ARTES Berlin is presenting the exhibition ‘FARBTANZ - visible energy’ with the latest works by the Berlin artist Christian Awe, whose works are impressively in the tradition of the great artists previously shown by the gallery, such as Gerhard Richter, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol.
A catalogue will be published to accompany the exhibition.
Awe's work is characterised by an intense and virtuoso exploration of colour, light, contrast and composition. Inspired by music, dance, urban influences and elements of nature, his gestural and organic formal language is inspiring, unfolding a fascinating dialogue between spontaneous expression, experimental technique and artistic precision.
Awe repeatedly explores the boundaries of painting. His works are full of colour and energy, but at the same time they are also full of sensitivity and lightness, conveying a pure joie de vivre.
The complexity of his abstract images arises from a unique blend of classical painting, drawing, spray technique, pouring and – in the words of the artist – controlled chance.
In a time that demands clarity but also allows ambiguity, Christian Awe's art is particularly relevant and inspiring.

‘In Awe's works, colour becomes the means of conveying human emotions. Colour gradients that find each other bear witness to processes of participation and sympathy that move away from predefined signs and ideas.
