About Gisela Krohn
Gisela Krohn, born on October 17, 1966 in Cologne, is a German painter who lives and works in Tutzing on Lake Starnberg and in Berlin. After graduating in graphic art and design in Cologne (1986) and spending a year studying in Québec, Canada (1988-1989), she trained as a theater painter at the Deutsche Oper Berlin from 1991 to 1995. She then studied painting at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee under Werner Liebmann and Hanns Schimansky from 1995 to 2001, graduating with a diploma.
Gisela Krohn's artistic work concentrates on landscape painting, in particular on motifs such as forests, avenues and large-format depictions of nature, which are situated between abstraction and naturalism. She emphasizes the close connection between man and nature and reflects both the beauty and the endangerment of the natural environment in her works. Her painting technique includes oil on canvas as well as ink and watercolor on paper.
In addition to her artistic work, Krohn has initiated and curated the exhibition project “Wald.Wolf.Wildnis.” since 2018, which deals with the relationship between humans and nature and emphasizes the intrinsic value of nature through artistic means.
Krohn's works have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany and abroad. Her works are represented in public and private collections.

A one-of-a-kind or unique piece is a work of art that has been personally created by the artist. It exists only once due to the type of production (oil painting, watercolours, drawing, etc.).
In addition to the classic unique pieces, there exist the so-called "serial unique pieces". They present a series of works with the same colour, motif and technique, manually prepared by the same artist. The serial unique pieces are rooted in "serial art", a type of modern art, that aims to create an aesthetic effect through series, repetitions and variations of the same objects or themes or a system of constant and variable elements or principles.
In the history of arts, the starting point of this trend was the work "Les Meules" (1890/1891) by Claude Monet, in which for the first time a series was created that went beyond a mere group of works. The other artists, who addressed to the serial art, include Claude Monet, Piet Mondrian and above all Gerhard Richter.
