Pablo Picasso's well-composed still life "Nature morte aux poires et au pichet" - "Still Life with Pears and Pitcher" - is a bold interpretation of a classical subject that becomes particularly compelling due to the balancing between a naturalistic mode of representation and radical abstraction.
