About Caroline Weihrauch
Caroline Weihrauch (*1961 in Hamburg) is a German painter known for her colorful floral still lifes, interiors and city scenes. Her artistic work combines floral motifs with architectural elements, landscapes and ornamental details, incorporating influences from the Belle Époque, Pop Art and expressive realism. Her preferred subjects include peonies, striking Berlin locations such as the Paris Bar and atmospheric interiors, which she stages with painterly density and a fine sense of color harmony. Her style is characterized by a dynamic brushstroke and a dense application of paint, through which the forms only come together with distance - a principle reminiscent of impressionist and modern role models such as Max Liebermann or David Hockney.
Weihrauch studied art and cultural studies at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin from 1983 to 1988 and then began studying painting with Andrzej Woron, Prof. Wolfgang Petrick and Prof. Hajo Diehl, among others. In 1994 she was appointed Hajo Diehl's master student. Since then, she has exhibited her works nationally and internationally, including being the first German painter to exhibit at the renowned Chelsea Flower Show in London. Her works can be found in private and institutional collections, including the art collection of Deutsche Bank, the collection of Deutsche Ausgleichsbank and the art collection of the Tübingen state government. Caroline Weihrauch currently lives and works in Potsdam and Berlin.

A one-of-a-kind or unique piece is a work of art personally created by the artist. It exists only once due to the type of production (oil painting, watercolour, drawing, lost-wax sculpture etc.).
In addition to the classic unique pieces, there are also the so-called "serial unique pieces". They present a series of works with the same colour, motif and technique, manually prepared by the same artist. The serial unique pieces are rooted in "serial art", a genre of modern art that aims to create an aesthetic effect through series, repetitions, and variations of the same objects or themes or a system of constant and variable elements or principles.
The historical starting point is considered to be Claude Monet's "Les Meules" (1890/1891), where, for the first time, a series was created that went beyond a mere group of works. The other artists, who addressed to the serial art, include Claude Monet, Piet Mondrian and above all Gerhard Richter.
