Detailed description

Picture "Nola (white rain)" (2008)

The outstanding artwork "Nola (white rain)", designed in Banksy's classic graffiti style, originally appeared as a mural on a wall in New Orleans.

With this work, Banksy refers to the devastating event of hurricane "Katrina" in 2005: Banksy criticises that the flood protection systems failed massively at that time and in some places even made the events worse. Through this striking picture of a girl, the artist seems to be suggesting to viewers in his own way that facilities actually created to protect us can sometimes have exactly the opposite effect.

The original screenprint was produced in 2008 in a limited edition of 289 copies, the edition size referring to the age of the city of New Orleans at the time.

Original screenprint, 2008. Edition: 289 copies, signed. With a certificate from Pest Control. Motif size/sheet size 76 x 56 cm. Size in frame 84 x 64 cm as shown.

About Banksy

He leaves his subversive graffiti all over the world and has already sneaked several of his artworks into major museums unnoticed. Supposedly born in Bristol in the mid-1970s, the guerrilla artist Banksy is probably the best-known and, at the same time, most mysterious representative of Urban Art. His works for the art market are rare and highly sought after. Among his collectors are Hollywood stars such as Brad Pitt and, by now, also significant museums.
