Detailed description

Picture "Soup Can" (2005)

With this signed and numbered screenprint "Soup Can" from the very small edition of only ten copies, the artist quite obviously quotes the oeuvre of Pop Art master Andy Warhol, who became world famous for his Campbell's soup cans. But here, too, Banksy lends the work a critical connotation by using the low-priced house brand of the British supermarket chain Tesco for his composition.

Original colour screenprint on paper, 2005. Edition: 10 copies, numbered and signed. With a certificate from Pest Control. Motif size/sheet size 49.9 x 34.8 cm. Size in frame 56.5 x 41.5 cm as shown.

About Banksy

He leaves his subversive graffiti all over the world and has already sneaked several of his artworks into major museums unnoticed. Supposedly born in Bristol in the mid-1970s, the guerrilla artist Banksy is probably the best-known and, at the same time, most mysterious representative of Urban Art. His works for the art market are rare and highly sought after. Among his collectors are Hollywood stars such as Brad Pitt and, by now, also significant museums.
