Detailed description

Sculpture "Distant Proximity - I" (2011) (Unique piece), wood

Ellen Mäder-Gutz abandons the naturalistic image of man and intensively engages with nature. Thus, the artist stages organic forms that are modelled on nature but are not an image of it. In stone sculptures, ceramic objects, drawings or graphics, floral motifs can be found that radiate an almost casual eroticism.

Sculpture in oak, 2011. Signed and dated. Height: 121 cm.

About Ellen Mäder-Gutz

Ellen Mäder-Gutz (*1954 in Bergfelde) studied sculpture at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee. Teaching assignments at the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences and the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig led her to a professorship at the University of Vechta from 2017.

Her art deals with the organic forms of nature. Her stone sculptures, ceramic objects, drawings and graphics feature floral motifs that radiate an almost casual eroticism.

Works by the artist can be found in the Skulpturensammlung Berlin-Friedrichshain and the Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp, among others.
