TenTen (1010)

The artist from Hamburg with Polish roots is currently one of the most internationally sought-after urban artists from Germany. His attribute is the spectacular and poetic colour craters that can now be found on building facades all over the world entitled "hole", "abyss", "void", "passage" or "portals".

1010 (pronounced TenTen) began spraying graffiti in 1994 and later decided to study art in Hamburg. One of his interests early on was dealing with language. He also cites computer games, animated films, comics, and fantasy novels as early sources of inspiration. His oeuvre consists mainly of works on paper, murals, screenprints and sculptures. 1010 came to his pseudonym around 2005 when he posted a series of figures made of newsprint in public spaces, each marked with a 1 or a 0 on the chest or back. A Hamburg photographer posted these paste-ups with the tag "1010", which the artist then adopted as his pseudonym.
