NOW - Painting by Edward B. Gordon

09 September - 24 October 2020

Solo exhibition featuring works by Edward B. Gordon.

We cordially invite you to discover more than 40 new paintings by the artist Edward B. Gordon.

Simultaneously, we are displaying works on paper by Tal R, Thomas Röthel, Marc Brandenburg, and other artists in our gallery.

Edward B. Gordon (born in 1966) captures moments in the metropolis through his paintings, imbuing them with vibrancy through bold brushstrokes and rich colours. Nowhere else does Edward B. Gordon's painterly talent unfold as it does here, where he transforms everyday scenes into overwhelming poetry on large canvases.

Gordon's artistic interpretation of his surroundings, his city Berlin, family, friends, and acquaintances, the fusion of nature and the natural in painting, the merging of experience and imagination—all of this demonstrates a profound sense of tradition.

Drawing from an understanding of widely divergent positions such as those of Lucian Freud, Frank Auerbach, Odd Nerdrum, or Helen Frankenthaler, Gordon has created something pioneering that is essentially rooted in de-romanticisation.

He values representation, as well as aesthetic positioning.

The lively authenticity he achieves, devoid of artifice, is an asset of this realist's approach. He approaches his figures with varying degrees of proximity in the pursuit of realism, without pandering, maintaining an observant distance.
