ARTES Berlin presents in the solo exhibition "PAINTING" more than 20 new works by artist Christian Awe, whose oeuvre incorporates influences of Abstract Expressionism as well as traces of Informalism. The artist's works fascinate with their intensity of colour and dynamism.

With an almost dance-like lightness and a painterly virtuosity, Awe combines colours and forms, creating a moment of freedom and joie de vivre for the viewer.
Abstracted forms depict a special degree of movement that seems to burst out of the painting, making its surface tactile. In doing so, Awe explores the boundaries of painting. Energetic streams of colour, powerful splashes, and spontaneously floating gestures cover underlying layers, forming a tension-filled symbiosis in a dialogue of spontaneity, experimentation, and artistic calculation. They come together to create poetically pulsating worlds of colour that captivate the viewers, drawing them into a cosmos of colours and emotions.
Whether on canvas, paper or on building facades spanning several hundreds of square metres, Awe's works exude vibrant colours and impress with their luminosity and finely nuanced vitality.
At the same time, his pictures exert an almost intoxicating fascination and allure.
Different layers, captivating at first glance, stimulate inner perception and reveal and sense new aspects upon closer inspection. They give his works their distinct rhythm and depth of space. Christian Awe's complex compositions invite the viewer to embark on an inspiring sensory journey. Explosive, yet controlled; powerful, yet full of sensitivity and lightness.
In times of great social changes, Awe sets a creative sign full of optimism and confidence. The painter lives and works in Berlin and Palma de Mallorca.
