From ZERO to present day - New works

In an interview, Otto Piene spoke about the beginning of the ZERO movement: "A great spring awakening. We were there first. Partly because I had this studio, which was actually a ruin. But that was associated with a lot of freedom and in that respect it made a lot of sense, because we, Heinz Mack and I mainly, could do what we wanted. The spirit in this whole invention was really positive and lively. That was very good. People like Jean Tinguely or Yves Klein also took part in this studio on occasion. That was important. So when they came to visit from Paris because they were exhibiting at Schmela, they knew where else to go. We then all became friends. That's why I often say that ZERO was born out of friendships."
